27.4.2013 Supercells in Bohemia

Postby Tomáš_Prouza » Sunday, 28 Apr 2013, 13:33

Hello everyone,

27th April 2013 was expected to bring some interesting storms into Czech republic due to favorable conditions - and finally it really happened.

Until now we have 2 confirmed supercells - both by surface observations and radar (doppler + CAPPI) measurements.

First of the supercells can be seen here: http://img29.imageshack.us/img29/1193/pict0070e.jpg - it occured in NE Bohemia near town Litomyšl in 13:35 UTC - and then this cell moved further NE across the border to the Klodzko region in Poland (presumed not to be supercell at that time any more).

Second one supercell occured in SW Bohemia near Písek 15:30 UTC - moving NE - this one was followed by our chaseres too and results are evaluated just now (funnel spotted).

This photo looks as if it was taken in the USA, not in the Europe, very spectacular SC :D

Hi ;) Yes, I saw this photo yesterday... Beautiful supercell with wall cloud and nice rain curtains. On tuesday we expect some supercells and clusters in south or south - eastern Poland. Severe hail and strong wind gusts will be the main threats.
Pozdrawiam,
Grzegorz Zawiślak
